Grow Your IT Career
What do you want to be when you grow up?
"You know, son, I don't know what I want to be when I grow up."
- Roger St. Dennis at age 58.
Many years ago, our founder, Stewart St. Dennis, was visiting with his father. At that time, Roger was thinking about retiring. As he was starting to think about that next stage in his life, he wasn't sure what the plan was. That moment stood out for Stewart and he has used that perspective fore the rest of his IT career. In that career, he has worked with a wide variety of IT professionals. During that career Stewart supported the personal and professional development many people he worked with. When he did that, he used this quote and the underlying idea to help them grow their career. Now GrowMe4IT wants to be able to help even more people grow their information technology career.
Do you have a career plan?
Is your career going where you planned it to go?
What is stopping you from moving forward?
What do you like to do (or not like to do)?
What are you suited to doing?
What is your personality type?
How might that affect what you are well suited for?
What's in the way of your career development?
What glass ceilings are stopping you?
Have you been pigeon-holed due to your technical skill?
Are your soft skills too soft?
What is your English language proficiency? Is it lower than needed for you to grow your career? Your first step at GrowMe4IT will be to complete your assessment. You will complete both self-assessment and external assessment activities. You will be guided through a series of tasks to gather information about yourself and then use that information to help you determine an action plan to grow your career. Click here to find out how to enrol. If English is not your first language, arrangements will be made for you to take the Common European Framework of Reference Languages (CEFR) online English language assessment tests. The results of these exams will be used to establish your English language proficiency baseline. Periodic retesting will be used to monitor English language proficiency growth. There is a general relationship between your personality and how well you fit into various careers. You are best suited for a specific career when your instinctive reaction to a situation is generally the best reaction. Many of those reactions are driven by your personality, as your personality includes instinctive "wired" reactions. Consequently, your personality may make it easier or harder to work in specific job at the end of your career path. You will be guided through a personality type review. Based on your understanding of your personality type, you can better consider your career options. With answers to so many key questions, you are better suited to make decisions about your career. So, what do you want to be when you grow up?
